Summer trainees 2014
O.V. Lounasmaa Laboratory of the Aalto University will hire 2nd - 4th year students as summer trainees and diploma workers both for the Low Temperature Laboratory and the Brain Research Unit. The trainee period is between June and August unless agreed otherwise. Later it could be possible to get a half- or full-time work in the laboratory and thereby a start for an academic career. The important dates regarding the summer trainee application (lab tour and the job interviews) will be given here at a later date.
All those interested in the positions are asked to register by using the enclosed web-form by 7th of February. Together with the applications we expect to get transcripts of your study records and a free-form curriculum vitae as instructed in the web form. The choice will be made according to the study record so far, taking into account the courses passed, their grading, practical work, and the time it has taken to carry them out. Further information on the lab can be obtained at the laboratory home pages, and the links below to the research group pages.
Summer trainees will be hired in the following research groups (follow the links for further information on the groups and summer jobs in them):
Low Temperature Laboratory
- µKI Group: Ultra low temperatures, He-3 mixtures and crystals (Dr. Juha Tuoriniemi).
- Rota/Theory: Numerical modelling of turbulent superfluid Helium (Dr. Risto Hänninen).
- Nano group: electronic quantum phenomena in nanostructures (Prof. Pertti Hakonen)
- PICO-group: Quantum metrology and thermodynamics in nanostructures (Prof. Jukka Pekola)
- KVANTTI-group: Quantum superconducting devices and high-frequency properties of nano-engineered materials (PhD Sorin Paraoanu)
- NEMS group: Nanomechanical systems near the quantum limit, superconducting qubits (Prof. Mika Sillanpää), applications via Department of Applied Physics, http://physics.aalto.fi/about/job-opportunities/summer-2014-internships/.
