WORKSHOP 2010
- Low Temperature Laboratory, Helsinki University of Technology, 11-16 April 2010
Sponsors
- League of Learned Societies in Finland (Academy of Finland)
- Vaisala Foundation of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters
- European MicroKelvin Collaboration, EU 7th Framework Research Infrastructures
- National Graduate School of Materials Physics
Topics
- The focus is vortex dynamics in helium superfluids and Bose-Einstein condensates, particularly quantum turbulence in the T –> 0 temperature limit. Order parameter structure of vortices and other topological defects will be discussed in 3He-A and cold atom clouds.
Committee
- M. Krusius & G. Volovik (chairmen)
- V. Eltsov, R. Hänninen, M. Möttönen (editors)
- J. Tuoriniemi (secretary)
Venue
Registration
- We kindly ask the participants to fill in the registration form and to pay special attention on supplying the correct flight information concerning flight numbers plus arrival and departure times at the Helsinki airport
Contact
- e-mail to krusius(at)cc.hut.fi
Arrival
- Sunday, April 11, afternoon & evening.
Transportation to Lammi from Helsinki airport during Sunday afternoon & evening: the transportation plan can be viewed here. Meeting point: Terminal 2 Arrivals Hall, immediately outside the slide doors from the baggage claim area of Terminal 2 and in front of the slide doors out of the Terminal 2 building. A guide will be present at the meeting point half an hour before the departure time of each bus.
Departure
- Friday, April 16, afternoon Transportation from Lammi to Helsinki airport, arrival there at 14:30
Program
- The symposium program can be viewed here or downloaded as a pdf here
- The Sessions contain the presentations of the speakers (in PDF).
Abstracts
- We kindly ask the participants to check the titles of their presentations and to send a short abstract to the workshop chairman Matti Krusius <krusius(at)cc.hut.fi>
Posters
- Posters are welcome and will be displayed in two evening poster sessions. The maximum size for posters is 90 cm wide and 115 cm high. The posters will be fixed on boards with pins which are available in the poster hall. Each participant presenting a poster is asked to prepare a 5 min orally given introduction with at most 3 viewgraphs in pdf format.
Proceedings
- The Proceedings are published as a special issue of Journal of Low Temperature Physics in late 2010. Original research articles and original reviews are welcome. The editors of the proceedings issue are Vladimir Eltsov (Section I: superfluids – experiment), Risto Hänninen (Section II: superfluids – theory), and Mikko Möttönen (Section III: BEC). The deadline for submissions is on June 15, 2010. There are no page limitations.
- Manuscripts should be submitted on-line following the instructions given on the website http://www.edmgr.com/jltp. On the first screen during submission process, called "Please Select an Article Type", please choose article type "SUR 2010" from the pull-down menu. This is very important for correct processing of the manuscripts! Additionally please insert in the box “Please Enter Comments” (later during submission process) the following text: “Article belongs to Special issue SUR2010 – Section X”, where X is replaced by section number I, II, or III, as appropriate (see the preceding paragraph). The LaTeX template for manuscript preparation can be downloaded here.
