Here you will find notes about any limitations in a style, along with tips about how you might work around those limitations. Blood ------ This journal allows you to append information to the year when an article in a journal was published. A field for this information is not currently defined in EndNote, but you can add it yourself, and then include it in a style. British Journal of Cancer -------------------------- This journal includes the tertiary volume for a book section and the volume of the series title for a book. These fields are not currently defined in EndNote, but you can add them yourself. To do so, please see "Adding, Deleting & Renaming Fields" in the "Reference Types" chapter of the EndNote manual. British Journal of Psychiatry ------------------------------ This journal includes the editor-in-chief for a book section, as well as the page or pages cited in a book. These fields are not currently defined in EndNote, but you can add them yourself. To do so, please see "Adding, Deleting & Renaming Fields" in the "Reference Types" chapter of the EndNote manual. British Medical Journal ------------------------ This journal includes the state in which a work was published, the year when and place where a conference's proceedings were published, and supplemental comments appended to journal references. These fields are not currently defined in EndNote, but you can add them yourself. To do so, please see "Adding, Deleting & Renaming Fields" in the "Reference Types" chapter of the EndNote manual. Cancer ------- This journal includes the specific pages cited in a book. Our styles do not include the specific page or pages cited for a book or edited book. Instead, EndNote includes a field for the Number of Pages for both books and edited books. Carcinogenesis ---------------- EndNote cannot suppress the space between author's last name and first initial, as required by the style. For example, what should appear as ÒSmith,JÓ will be formatted as ÒSmith, JÓ. International Journal of Cancer -------------------------------- This journal prints the authors' names in small caps. EndNote cannot convert text to small caps. See "Formatting author names in all capital letters or small caps" in the Styles chapter of the EndNote manual. This journal requires that the letter appended to the year (such as 1988a) be italicized. EndNote cannot do this. Please refer to "Italicizing the letter after the year" in the "Reference Types" chapter. This journal includes a publication number for book sections. A field for the publication number is not currently defined in the Book Section reference type in EndNote. You can, however, add it yourself, and then add it to the style. To do so, please see "Adding, Deleting & Renaming Fields" in the "Reference Types" chapter of the EndNote manual. Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease ---------------------------------------- This journal prints the authors' names in small caps. EndNote cannot convert text to small caps. See "Formatting author names in all capital letters or small caps" in the Styles chapter of the EndNote manual. This journal requires that the letter appended to the year (such as 1988a) be italicized. EndNote cannot do this. Please refer to "Italicizing the letter after the year" in the "Reference Types" chapter of the EndNote manual. This journal includes the year when a book was translated. A field for this information is not currently defined in the Book reference type in EndNote. You can, however, add it yourself and then add it to the style. See "Adding, Deleting & Renaming Fields" in the "Reference Types" chapter in the EndNote manual. In this journal, an author's name is supposed to appear only once in the bibliography, with an em-dash for each subsequent reference. If your bibliography includes two or more works by the same author or group of authors, please see "Suppressing an author's name when a bibliography contains two or more works by the same author" in the Styles chapter. Journal of Psychiatric Research --------------------------------- This journal requires that an author name be listed only once in a citation. If you need to create a multiple citation with more than one reference to the same author, please see "Showing an author's name only once in a multiple citation" in the Styles chapter of your EndNote manual. Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association ----------------------------------------------------------- This journal includes the specific pages cited in a book. Our styles do not include the specific page or pages cited for a book or edited book. Instead, EndNote includes a field for the Number of Pages for both books and edited books. Journal of the National Cancer Institute ----------------------------------------- This journal prints the authors' names in small caps. EndNote cannot convert text to small caps. See "Formatting author names in all capital letters or small caps" in the Styles chapter of the EndNote manual. Nature Medicine ----------------- This journal omits the words 'Press', 'Verlag', and so forth from the publisher name, except when it is necessary to distinguish between universities and university presses. EndNote will include the publisher name exactly as it is entered into the reference in the EndNote library. This journal requires that references with a letter as part of the volume number list the letter in plain text with the volume number bold. EndNote will make both the letter and the volume number bold if both were entered into the Volume field. EndNote always puts a comma before an author's title (e.g. Jr. or Sr.). This journal normally has the author's title follow the name - without a comma. New England Journal of Medicine ----------------------------------- If a paper delivered at a conference has been published along with other papers presented at the same conference, you should consider entering the paper as a Book Section rather than as a Conference Proceeding. That way, you will be able to include both the date and place of publication in your reference. The standard Conference Proceeding reference type in EndNote does not include fields for the year or place of publication. Pain ----- This journal requires that the letter appended to the year (such as 1988a) be italicized. EndNote cannot do this. Please refer to "Italicizing the letter after the year" in the "Reference Types" chapter. Psychoanalytic Quarterly -------------------------- EndNote cannot merge references when the same person both edits and translates a book, as in "ed. & tr." This journal prints the authors' names in small caps. EndNote cannot convert text to small caps. See "Formatting author names in all capital letters or small caps" in the Styles chapter of the EndNote manual. Schizophrenia Bulletin ------------------------ This journal requires that the letter appended to the year (such as 1988a) be italicized. EndNote cannot do this.
